Welcome reception

Welcome to NCGP 2024 Congress! Come and meet old friends and make new ones.

The organising committee warmly welcomes the congress participants to a reception at the Turku City Theatre on Tuesday, 11 June. The City Theatre is located by the Aura river, within a walking distance from the congress venue. A light buffet will be served.

Welcome reception is included in the registration fees, pre-registration is required (limited number of tickets). Welcome reception is fully booked.

Please note that there are construction works near the City Theatre. If you arrive from the city centre, please note that the Teatterisilta bridge in front of the City Theatre is closed due to construction works. You can arrive via the Auransilta bridge or Myllysilta bridge. We recommend arriving on foot or by public transport. There is a very limited number of parking spaces around the venue.

After the welcome reception, congress participants are welcome to continue the evening on the banks of the Aura River on the riverboat Papa Joe, located near the City Theatre. No prior registration is required.

Social programme events at the Ruissalo Boatyard

On Thursday evening, 13 June, we head to the beautiful scenery of the island of Ruissalo, where we organise two parallel evening parties at Ruissalo Boatyard. Read more below and remember to book your ticket when registering!

Ruissalo Boatyard, which operated in 1889-1954, was the biggest boatyard in the Nordic countries and a major player throughout Europe. Altogether over 5 000 boats were built at the yard. Ruissalo Boatyard offers a wonderful setting for all kinds of events, and the destination is one of the most popular event venues in Turku today. Ruissalo Boatyard (address: Hevoskarintie 23, Turku) is located about 6 km from the Turku city centre and can be reached by public transport.

Congress Dinner

We invite you to join us at the traditional Congress Dinner to spend a memorable evening in the beautiful seaside setting of Ruissalo Boatyard!

During the evening, you can enjoy a buffet-style three-course dinner, live music and enchanting performances, and take the opportunity to network in the ambient environment.

As night falls, the evening turns to an ”after-party” with live music and dancing. The participants of the parallel Summer Evening Party are also welcome to join! This is an event you don’t want to miss!

Ferry transportation at 17.30 (pre-registration required).

Bus transportation at 18.20 from Turku city centre.
Departure point Scandic Hotel Hamburger Börs (address: Kauppiaskatu 6, Turku). Buses also run via Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel (the bus stops across the street opposite the Marina Palace hotel).

Return buses from Ruissalo Boatyard to Turku city centre at 22.30, 23.00, 23.30, 00.00 and 00.30. Buses run via the Marina Palace Hotel to the Scandic Hotel Hamburger Börs.

Summer Evening Party

We welcome you to the Summer Evening Party at Ruissalo Boatyard!

We promise you a fun evening in good company with catchy live music. The evening also offers an excellent opportunity for networking. You can meet fellow attendees, exchange ideas, and create new connections in a relaxed atmosphere.

After the programme and the meal, the evening continues in the Lindblom Hall next door, where we organise a joint after-party with the Congress Dinner participants. You are warmly welcome to enjoy the live music and dancing!

Other activities

Morning run

Start your congress day on June 13th with a 30-minute 5K run/jog through the beautiful hills and parks of Turku. Celebrate the legacy of Paavo Nurmi, a nine-time Olympic gold medalist, on his birthday by following a scenic route that begins at the iconic Paavo Nurmi statue (at the crossing of Kaskenkatu Street and Itäinen rantakatu Street).

Our run/jog will take us past notable landmarks including the Paavo Nurmi Stadium, the Samppalinna outdoor swimming pool, the Vartiovuori Observatory, and the majestic Turku Cathedral.

Our path includes some stairs and uphill’s. The pace will be approximately 6 minutes per kilometer.

We will meet at the Paavo Nurmi statue at 7:00 AM. No prior registration is required – just bring your enthusiasm and be ready for a great start to your day!

Yoga

Feel like taking a break to flourish your body and soul with some outdoors yoga? Located beside Turku Cathedral, Oasis Studio’s green backyard offers you the perfect opportunity to relax on Wednesday June 12th at 20.15. This Hatha & Yin style yoga class is suitable for everyone and is conducted in English by Jonna Nykänen.

The class is free of charge. Yoga mats are provided on site. In case of rain, the class will be held indoors.
